Noticeboard Terms of Service

Overview

Noticeboard provides technology and services that enable schools, organisations, parents, and communities to communicate effectively, build stronger connections, and operate trusted digital spaces.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of:

  • The Noticeboard web application
  • The Noticeboard mobile applications
  • Shop Noticeboard
  • All related features, services, tools, APIs, and technologies

By accessing or using Noticeboard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Noticeboard (Pty) Ltd regarding your use of the platform.

1. The Services We Provide

Noticeboard's mission is to simplify communication between schools and families while enabling trusted community engagement. We provide the following services:

1.1 Communication Infrastructure

We allow schools and organisations to send notices, announcements, updates, and attachments to parents and members.

1.2 Circle & Sub-Circle Management

Users may create and manage Circles for structured communication (e.g., grades, teams, departments).

1.3 Shop Noticeboard

We provide a marketplace environment where approved businesses may advertise products and services to communities.

1.4 Account & User Management

We provide secure login systems, role-based permissions, and user controls.

1.5 Platform Safety & Moderation

We monitor misuse, harmful conduct, and policy violations to maintain a safe environment.

1.6 Platform Improvement

We may analyze usage data to improve functionality, performance, and user experience.

2. How Noticeboard Is Funded

Noticeboard may generate revenue through:

  • Subscription plans
  • Advertising
  • Shop Noticeboard commissions (currently 35% unless otherwise stated)
  • Premium features

We do not sell personal data. We may display sponsored or commercial content within the platform.

3. Your Commitments

By using Noticeboard, you agree to the following:

3.1 Account Integrity

You must:

  • Provide accurate information.
  • Maintain the security of your login credentials.
  • Not create fake accounts.
  • Not impersonate others.
  • Not share access in unauthorized ways.

You may not use Noticeboard if:

  • You are under 13 years of age.
  • You have been permanently suspended.
  • You are legally prohibited from using digital services.
3.2 Acceptable Use

You may not use Noticeboard to:

  • Post unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, or discriminatory content.
  • Share content you do not have rights to.
  • Violate intellectual property rights.
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the platform.
  • Collect data through automated means without permission.
  • Harvest user data.
  • Misuse reporting systems.

Noticeboard may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

4. Content & Licensing

You retain ownership of your content. By posting or uploading content (notices, ads, logos, images, videos, attachments), you grant Noticeboard a:

  • Non-exclusive
  • Royalty-free
  • Worldwide
  • Transferable license

to host, display, distribute, promote, and archive that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the platform. This license ends when the content is deleted, subject to backup and legal retention requirements.

5. Data & Privacy

We collect and process data in accordance with:

  • POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act)
  • Our Privacy Policy

You agree not to upload sensitive information unless required and lawfully permitted. You acknowledge that content and data may be processed and stored on secure infrastructure, including outside your immediate geographic location where required for service delivery.

6. Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or permanently disable accounts if:

  • You seriously or repeatedly violate these Terms.
  • You misuse the platform.
  • We are legally required to do so.
  • Your account remains inactive for an extended period.

Where appropriate, we will notify you and provide review options. Certain provisions survive account termination.

7. Limitation of Liability

Noticeboard is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by South African law:

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
  • We are not responsible for third-party content.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of:

  • R1,500; or
  • The amount you paid to Noticeboard in the past 12 months.

8. Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved in South African courts. Parties agree to attempt good faith resolution before formal proceedings.

9. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Where changes are material, we will notify users in advance. Continued use of Noticeboard after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Miscellaneous

  • If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder remains valid.
  • Failure to enforce a provision does not waive our rights.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent.
  • Noticeboard reserves all rights not expressly granted.
